Why me? A compelling look at breast augmentation and how to get great results
Thousands of women in the United States and world wide under go the alluring and sometimes controversial breast enhancement surgery. In the United States alone, over 3 million women already have already had the surgery.
Originally developed by Dr. Radovan and others in the late 60's, the idea of a breast implant was based on a procedure to expand skin for reconstructive purposes - just like a pregnant woman stretches her belly when she is pregnant. It made perfect sense to put this bag of water behind the breast tissue and just make it look larger. The trick was, use something that expands easily enough and above all is safe.
Silicone by now was a well known entity in medicine. In fact, so many daily used products, have silicone in them and range from your regular glass, the straw you use to drink, syringes, cardiac pacemakers and a multitude of other products Silicone is inert and safe. So the water filled implant with a silicone outer shell was the perfect choice.
So why the surgery?
Central to a woman's identity are her breasts! They are something that she can legally promote to the world at large and show off her femininity in a fun way. It is exciting to see how much women really benefit from the boost of their self esteem through a relatively simple process of breast augmentation.

First and foremost, since there are so many doctors out there claiming to perform plastic surgery, only go to a surgeon that is specifically Board Certified in Plastic Surgery. They have received the proper training and officially credentialed by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Then look for experience, reputation, referrals, and to the office staff. All are the first clues you want to look for especially the welcoming reception you get during your visit. This typically reflects how all future treatments will occur.
Finally, the surgery choices:
Most patients are best suited through an armpit approach using special cameras during surgery. Round, smooth saline implants from the company Mentor, placed under the muscle is a common and safe approach..
Since there are anatomical differences as well as personal preference, you do have other options that may benefit you better and these include: silicone vs saline, smooth vs textured, round vs tear drop, above vs below the muscle. And the other incision choices include under the breast, through the nipple or through the belly button.
